What a Small-Business Website Really Costs in Malaysia (And What to Watch For)
Quotes for a Malaysian SME website swing from RM500 to RM15,000 — here's where the money actually goes and the traps that turn a 'cheap' site into an expensive headache.

The real range, and why it's so wide
Ask five providers for a website quote and you'll get five very different numbers. A RM500 template job, a RM5,000 custom build, a RM15,000 agency project. The price gap isn't random — it reflects how much is actually being done for you, and what happens after launch.
The cheapest quotes usually hand you a half-finished template and disappear. The most expensive often include things a café or clinic will never use. The honest middle is a clean, professional site, set up properly, with someone you can reach when it needs a change.
Two costs, not one: build and upkeep
A website has two costs, and people only ask about the first. There's the one-off setup — design, content, mobile layout, search setup, getting it live. Then there's the ongoing cost: hosting, your domain renewal, security, and the small updates a living website always needs.
Beware any quote that mentions only the setup fee. Hosting and a domain still cost money every year, and a site nobody maintains slowly breaks — forms stop sending, plugins go out of date, things look off on new phones. A transparent monthly figure means upkeep is actually someone's job, not a surprise bill in eight months.
What to watch for in a quote
Ask three questions before you pay anyone. Who owns the domain and the website — it must be you, registered in your name, not held hostage by the provider. What does the monthly fee cover, specifically, in plain words. And what happens if you want to leave.
Watch out for 'free website' offers that lock you into paid ads you can't audit, and for providers who go quiet the moment the invoice is paid. The website itself is only as good as the support behind it. A real person on WhatsApp who fixes things in a day is worth more than a fancier design you can never change.
A note on your customers' data
If your site collects names, phone numbers or emails through a contact form, you're handling personal data — and in Malaysia that comes under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA). It's not as scary as it sounds, but it does mean a basic privacy note and handling enquiries responsibly. A decent build includes this from the start rather than leaving you exposed.
This is one of those things a RM500 template job skips entirely, and one reason 'cheap' can cost more later.
What we charge, plainly
We keep it simple. A Starter Website — one clean page, mobile-friendly, WhatsApp button, basic search setup — is RM2,000 to set up plus RM350 a month. A Business Website with three to five pages is RM3,500 setup plus RM650 a month. The monthly runs on a six-month minimum and covers hosting, domain care, minor updates, and a real person on WhatsApp.
You own your domain and your site, fully. No ad-spend games, no surprises. If that's the kind of straightforward you've been looking for, message us on WhatsApp and we'll tell you exactly what your business needs — and what it doesn't.
